Whether for an individual, an organization, or a nation, dignity holds immense importance. Essentially, dignity reflects the values and actions carved into the collective memory of humanity. Currently, Myanmar’s military is facing a decline in dignity—both internationally and domestically. While there is no single individual to blame, the Commander-in-Chief bears the primary responsibility. Why Has the Military’s Dignity Declined? Four main reasons emerge upon reflection: Lack of Popular Support: The military has failed to earn the goodwill of the people. Overindulgence in Power: Military leaders are obsessed with clinging to authority. Perceived Self-Importance: They see themselves as the nation’s saviors and benefactors.
